Edon’s football team will face another stern nonleague test Friday when the Bombers (7-1) make the 100-mile trek to Kansas, Ohio, to face Lakota (6-2). Both teams have four straight wins. Edon, No. 2 in the latest Division VII, Region 26 computer ratings, averages 46.1 points per game; Lakota, ninth in Division V, Region 18, is averaging 36. Edon’s Drew Gallehue has thrown for 3,124 yards, 42 TDs and 4 INTs so far this season, while Gannon Ripke has 62 catches for 1,050 yards and 13 TDs in Edon’s high-powered passing attack.

Edgerton, ranked No. 20 in the Division VII, Region 26 computer ratings, has another solid chance at picking up a much-needed win for a playoff push when the Bulldogs travel to Green Meadows Conference foe Antwerp on Friday. A win over Antwerp (6-2, 4-1 GMC) would go a long way for Edgerton (4-4, 2-2 GMC), whose four wins have come against teams with a combined 1-28 record. Antwerp, which had just two total wins in the 2019-20 seasons, has lost 12 straight games to Edgerton; the Archers’ last win came in 2007.

Another area Green Meadows Conference team trying to solidify its playoff status takes the field at Ayersville on Friday as Fairview (3-5, 3-2 GMC) battles the Pilots (4-3, 2-2). Fairview is clinging to the No. 15 spot in Division VI, Region 22 (top 16 in each region after Week 10 qualify for playoffs). Ayersville is No. 7 in Region 26 and is looking to secure a home game for the playoffs. Fairview has won the last four meetings after Ayersville took four in a row from 2013-16.

Two teams looking for their first win of the season square off in Montpelier at noon Saturday as the Locomotives (0-6) host Margaretta (0-7). Margaretta, located more than 100 miles west of Montpelier in Castalia, had a pair of single-digit losses in its first four games before losing the last three by a 120-13 margin. Montpelier has lost its last two by a 84-18 margin to Northwood and Ottawa Hills after an 18-12 defeat to Fremont St. Joseph in Week 6.

Hilltop will return to the gridiron Friday night when the Cadets take on Cardinal Stritch in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game at Oregon Clay High School. Hilltop (0-7, 0-3 TAAC) had to cancel Friday’s Week 8 game at home vs. Lucas due to coronavirus-related reasons. Cardinal Stritch (4-2, 1-1 TAAC) is coming off a 43-28 loss to Edon. Hilltop and Cardinal Stritch have split the last 10 matchups, but the Cardinals have won the last three.

Stryker will head to Michigan for its final road game of the season when the Panthers (1-4) take on Britton Deerfield on Friday. Stryker, which is coming off a 42-14 loss to Toledo Christian on Saturday, will look to end a four-game losing skid. Britton Deerfield, though, has outscored its opponents 353-44 so far this season en route to going 7-0. The Patriots have surpassed 60 points in four games.
