MONTPELIER — Montpelier won a shootout against North Central, outscoring the Eagles 71-62 for a Buckeye Border Conference boys basketball win on Friday at the Superior Athletic Complex.

Garrett Walz dropped a team-high 22 points in the Locos’ (10-8, 7-5 BBC) regular-season finale. Gavin Stratton added 15 points, while Blake Altaffer and Thomas Jay each chipped in 11 points.

North Central stats were not available.

Stryker falls

STRYKER — Stryker kept fighting against Pettisville, but couldn’t overcome its foe as the Blackbirds got a 41-36 BBC victory to win the outright conference title on Friday at Stryker High School.

Kaleb Holsopple scored a game-high 14 points for the Panthers (9-12, 7-5 BBC). Amos Sloan added 11 points.

Cayden Jacoby tallied a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) for Pettisville (14-6, 10-2). Max Leppelmeier also had 12 points and three assists.

Fairview gets win

DEFIANCE — Fairview was stout defensively against Tinora on Friday, limiting the Rams to 11 points to help give itself a 23-11 Green Meadows Conference win at Tinora High School.

The Apaches finished the regular season 10-8 overall, 3-4 GMC. Tinora fell to 4-12, 1-5. No stats were reported before deadline.
