Bryan’s Caleb McCashen smashes a hit during warmups before the Golden Bears’ boys tennis match against Springfield on Monday at Bryan High School.

The Bryan boys tennis team opened its season with a 5-0 win over Springfield on Monday at Bryan High School.

Jay Fortner swept Max Kufner in singles play (6-0, 6-0), while Carter Brown defeated Tori Wurzelbacher (7-5, 6-1) in singles. Micah McCashen won by forfeit.

Nathan Hess and Craig Jackson swept Connor Gilley and Ben Cubberly in doubles (6-0, 6-0), while Aiden Andrews and Caleb McCashen beat Evan Hayward and Rocco Borrillo (6-1, 6-0).

The Golden Bears will look to continue their momentum against Ottawa-Glandorf at 4:30 p.m. today in Ottawa.
