NAPOLEON — Bryan girls bowling’s season came to an abrupt end Friday night.

The Golden Bears, who won the OHSAA Division II state title last season, finished sixth place with a 3,267 (2,466 in three-game match play, 801 in six Bakers) in a Division II sectional tournament at River City Bowl-A-Way in Napoleon.

The top three teams and top three individuals advanced to the Division II district tournament on Feb. 18 at Westgate Lanes in Lima.

Faith Harding bowled a team-high 566 (192, 169, 205) series for Bryan, which finished the regular season 13-1 (11-1 Northwest Ohio Athletic League) and second in the NWOAL tournament.

Gabi Bany tallied a 530 (162, 166, 202), while Jessica Federspiel had a 490 (157, 165, 174). Alexis Firm’s 477 (140, 209, 128) and Juleah Purk’s 397 (116, 143, 138) completed the Golden Bears’ score.

Napoleon (3,875), Swanton (3,792) and Wauseon (3,660) were the three teams that moved on to the district tournament. Van Wert’s Lorrie Decker (628), as well as Delta’s Maddy Johnston (585) and Ciarra Flickinger (574), were the three individual qualifiers.

Wauseon’s Danielle Carr bowled a tournament-high 646 (268, 209, 169) series.
