PORT CLINTON — Bryan’s Emilee Bassett and Reese Grothaus dropped both of their doubles matches on Saturday to finish fourth in the Division II district girls tennis tournament at Port Clinton High School.

Bassett and Grothaus, who won both of their matches Friday to become Bryan’s first state tournament qualifiers since 2008, fell to Lima Bath’s Ruby and Esther Bolon 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals. The Golden Bears’ duo lost to Lima Shawnee’s Aria and Alora Patel 6-4, 6-2 in the third-place match.

The Bolons knocked off Toledo Central Catholic’s Bella and Lucia Spinazze 7-6 (4), 6-1 to win the district title.

Bassett and Grothaus will compete in the OHSAA Division II state tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
