EDGERTON – Catch basin repair is underway in front of the Edgerton Public Library.
“That is about a 20-year-old problem,” Edgerton Village Administrator Dawn Fitzcharles said during Wednesday’s council meeting. “I know it was going on when I first started at the village so it is pretty exciting when we can get some of those things taken care of and off the docket.”
A new sewer service was also placed on Clarksville Road.
“The trench on Clarksville as well in of the library will be filled in with stone,” Fitzcharles said. “It will be that way for a little while to allow that to settle and it is included in our paving package with Bryan Excavating.
“I have given the street department strict instructions because if the trench settles a little bit and we have rain and we have people flying in off Clarksville that can be a mess. I have seen very crazy things happen with trenches and stone and I want to try and avoid that in this area.”
• Council approved a Letter of Engagement with TAFT to assist the village with the environmental matters of the Brownfield Remediation Grant. Fitzcharles said TAFT “is being engaged by the village to assist in the remediation of the site in accordance with the director’s final findings and orders, will help us deal with the Ohio EPA as the remediation takes place as well as dealing with the Ohio Department of Development.” All fees are paid for by Edgerton Acquisitions and it is at no cost to the village.
• Council approved a Letter of Engagement with August Mack to assist the village with the implementation of the Brownfield Remediation Grant and act as the environmental consultant. The village will be reimbursed by the Ohio Department of Development after it is invoiced by August Mack.
• Council approved the hiring of Sadie Walther to work for the village as part of the summer intern program starting June 12.
• Council accepted and appropriated an Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Safety Intervention Grant for $13,087.50 to pay for a truck-power lift gate that helps firefighters put away large water hoses after use.
• Council approved a resolution that allowed Fitzcharles to apply for funding from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a disc golf course.
