LIMA — Edgerton’s Hayden Herman and Jordan Warner posted top-three finishes in their respective weight classes as the Bulldogs finished eighth at the Lima Senior Spartan Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at Lima Senior High School.
Edgerton finished with 89.5 points, while Mechanicsburg won the 17-team field with 273.5 points.
Herman went 4-1 in finishing second at 120 pounds. The Bulldogs’ junior recorded two pins and a technical fall to start, then edged Spencerville’s Carder Miller 12-11 to advance to the first-place match where he lost a 9-3 decision to St. Marys Memorial’s Trevor Hisey.
Meanwhile, Warner overcame a first-round loss to finish third at 170. Warner lost an 11-2 major decision to Delphos St. John’s Chase Martin in the first round, then reeled off four straight pins. The Edgerton senior floored Mechanicsburg’s Aaron Conley in 46 seconds in the third-place match.
Edgerton’s Blake Flower finished fifth at 182, while Justin Huffman (220) and Mathias Shepler (285) both finished sixth in their respective weight classes. Raymond Barlow (132) and Drew Osmun (195) both finished eighth.
