LIMA — Bryan’s girls basketball team won its first game of the season on Saturday.

The Golden Bears had four players drop double-digit point and cruised to a 76-27 nonleague win over Lima Senior in the consolation game of the Kewpee Tip Off Classic at Lima Bath High School.

Reese Grothaus tallied a game-high 18 points — including three 3-pointers — to front Bryan (1-1), which had 11 players score a bucket. Addie Arnold (13 points) also nailed three 3s, while Ella Voigt contributed 11 points and Ellyn Murphy, 10. Kailee Thiel and Lexi Alspaugh each chipped in five points.

Tiana Spivey had 12 points to front the Spartans (0-2). Amiyah Coleman hit a pair of 3-pointers and Kaytlynne Hile added four points for Lima Senior.

Lima Bath edged Marion Local 37-36 in the championship game on Saturday

The Golden Bears will look to build off of Saturday’s win when they face Tinora (1-0) in a nonleague contest 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tinora High School.

Edgerton falls just short

PETTISVILLE — After only scoring 14 first-half points, Edgerton’s girls basketball team came out in the second half and dropped 25.

It wasn’t enough, however, as Pettisville’s offense was steady through the first three quarters to win a 45-39 nonconference contest on Saturday at Pettisville High School.

Clara Gerschutz scored a team-high 13 points to front the Bulldogs (0-2). Grace Schroeder added nine points, while Luisa Rudersdorf had seven.

Ellie Grieser nailed four 3-pointers in her game-high 16-point performance for the Blackbirds (1-1). Amanda Grimm contributed 11 points, and Hollyn Klopfenstein had seven.
