Wurm gets 100th wrestling win

DEFIANCE — Montpelier senior wrestler Gavin Wurm posted a 4-1 record on Saturday to surpass 100 career wins as the Locomotives finished 3-2 in a six-team dual at Ayersville High School.

Wurm, at 195 pounds, tallied four pins in helping the Locos beat Arcadia (42-24), Napoleon (33-16) and Hicksville (41-24). Montpelier’s losses came to Archbold (69-6) and Ayersville (51-23).

Wurm became the fourth senior wrestler in The Bryan Times’ coverage area to reach the career milestone this season. Bryan’s Dylan McCandless, Edgerton’s Jordan Warner and Fairview’s Kaden Blair each surpassed 100 victories recently.

Montpelier’s Monte Treesh (285) also posted a 4-1 record with four pins on Saturday.
