EDON — Edon’s Gannon Ripke allowed one run on four hits in a complete-game performance on the mound, and the Bombers used a balanced offense to knock off Hilltop 8-1 in a nonconference baseball game on Tuesday at G. Kent Adams Field in Edon.

Ripke, who excelled in the long jump and sprinting events for Edon’s track and field team at the Antwerp Invitational on Monday, had six strikeouts and five walks. At the plate, he roped a double and drove in a run.

Ethan Steinke and Max Radabaugh both had two hits for Edon (7-10), while Kyler Sapp, Wade Parrish, Garrett Skiles and Caden Nester each added a hit and RBI in a balanced Bombers’ offense.

Cameron Schlosser had two hits and an RBI to front the Cadets (7-13).

Bryan falls in extras

Bryan’s baseball team used a five-run third to take a 7-4 lead over Toledo Whitmer, but the Panthers outscored the Golden Bears 5-2 over the next four frames to force extras.

Whitmer drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth and blanked Bryan in the bottom of the frame to earn a 10-9 nonleague victory on Tuesday at Sumpter Field.

Dylan Dominique (two runs) and Carter Dominique (one run) each doubled, singled and had two RBIs for the Golden Bears (11-7). Jase Kepler (two RBIs, double), Joe Watson (two singles, one run) and Taysen Deckrosh (three walks, two runs) also contributed for Bryan.

Landon Shilling pitched four solid innings of relief but took the loss. He fanned four batters with four hits, one earned run and three walks.

Sean Doran got the win after two no-hit innings of relief. He fired one strikeout with two walks for the Panthers (14-5). Nathan Ganzel had two singles, two walks, four RBIs and one run to lead Whitmer’s offense.

The Golden Bears will try to bounce back in a nonleague matchup against Hicksville (6-8) at 4:30 p.m Thursday at Sumpter Field.

Stryker tops Fayette

STRYKER — Stryker’s baseball team jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one inning and used a four-run sixth to upend Fayette 10-5 in a nonleague baseball game on Tuesday at Stryker Athletic Complex.

Mason Froelich had two hits and two RBIs, while Jacob Cadwell doubled and drove in two runs for Stryker (3-13). Daniel Donovan picked up the win after allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits in six innings, with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Shane Maginn had three hits and an RBI to lead Fayette (3-10).

Locos win

MONTPELIER — A four-run fifth inning gave Montpelier a two-run lead, and the Locomotives held on from there to post a 6-5 nonleague baseball win over Swanton on Tuesday at Butch Stantz Field in Montpelier.

Jaxon Richmond slapped three hits with an RBI; David Bowman doubled, singled and drove in a run; and Jarron Dohner had a hit with two RBIs for Montpelier (11-7).

Hunter Gowing (double) and Garrett Swank both had two hits and two RBIs for Swanton (5-10).

Apaches roll

DELTA — Fairview’s baseball team racked up 11 runs on 14 hits on Tuesday in rolling to an 11-4 victory over Delta in a nonconference game at Delta High School.

Brady Karzynow doubled, singled twice and drove in a run for Fairview (14-8). Kolton Schooley added two hits and three RBIs, while Eli Shininger doubled, singled and had two RBIs.
