PIONEER — North Central’s Ethan Beard pitched a complete game and only allowed two hits to help the Eagles get a 9-3 Buckeye Border Conference baseball victory over Hilltop on Friday at North Central High School.
Beard also struck out five, walked five, hit two batters and allowed three runs (zero earned). Quin Burt doubled, singled and drove in two runs for North Central (10-7, 7-1 BBC). Connor Gendron and Zack Hayes each singled and had two RBIs.
Isaac Baumgartner singled and drove in two runs for the Cadets (3-15, 3-5 BBC). Ethan Varney walked twice and had an RBI.
Ian Hoffman threw a complete game and got the loss on the mound.
The junior righty allowed nine runs (four earned), six hits, one walk and hit four batters. He also had three strikeouts. Hilltop totaled two hits and four errors, while the Eagles had nine hits and one error.
Montpelier no-hit by Lincolnview
VAN WERT — Lincolnview’s Collin Overholt and Landon Price threw a combined no-hitter to help hand Montpelier a 5-0 nonconference loss on Friday at Lincolnview High School.
Overholt got the start and pitched five innings, fired eight strikeouts and allowed three walks for the Lancers (13-4).
Price tossed the remaining two frames and got five strikeouts.
Lincolnview scored all of its runs in the first inning off of Montpelier’s (12-5) Tylor Yahraus. The senior righty pitched one inning and allowed five runs (four earned), four hits and three walks.
He also had one strikeout.
Collin Crisenbery, Ethan Marihugh and David Bowman each drew a walk, while Crisenbery stole a base and was hit by a pitch. Blake Altaffer was also hit by a pitch.
Fairview’s Frank shuts down Edon
SHERWOOD — Fairview’s Caleb Frank one-hit Edon and fired 15 strikeouts to help the Apaches get a 7-0 nonconference win on Friday at Fairview High School.
Frank also only allowed two walks against the Bombers (4-15).
The senior scored twice, stole two bases, singled and drew a walk at the plate.
Nathaniel Adkins drove in three runs and scored for Fairview (7-9). Cade Ripke contributed a single and two runs.
Wade Parrish pitched a complete game for Edon. He allowed seven runs (five earned), three hits, three walks and had one strikeout.
Garrett Skiles’ single was the lone hit for the Bombers.
Edon also committed four errors compared to none from the Apaches.
