DEFIANCE — Bryan’s golf team had six golfers shoot in the low-40s, but it wasn’t enough against Defiance as the Golden Bears placed second in a nonleague match with the Bulldogs and Wauseon on Tuesday at Eagle Rock Golf Club.

Bryan shot a 168, while Defiance totaled a 163. Wauseon placed third with a 178.

Drew Dauber led the Golden Bears with a 41. He was followed by Clayton Rupp and Noah Huard, who both shot a 42. Gideon Mejia turned in a 43, while Nolan Kidston and Nathan Hess both had a 44.

Bryan will return to the links at 9 a.m. Friday for the Northwest Ohio Athletic League tournament at Auglaize Golf Club.

Montpelier girls win

Montpelier’s Addison Thompson earned medalist honors with a 40 and led the Locomotives’s girls golf team to a 191-249 win over nonleague opponent Archbold on Tuesday at Suburban Golf Course.

Following Thompson were Kinsey Word (42), Emily Fritsch (54) and Mandy Taylor (55).
