PETTISVILLE — Edon’s used several close finishes, including one in the fifth set, to outlast Pettisville 11-25, 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, 17-15 in a Buckeye Border Conference volleyball match on Thursday at Pettisville High School.

Edon improved to 10-7 overall and remained in second place in the BBC at 4-1. North Central is also 4-1 in league play.

Carlie Kiess led the Bombers with 16 digs and 10 kills. She also had five aces and three blocks.

Kerrin Towers added nine assists, eight digs and six aces, while Olivia Mitchell chipped in eight kills and five digs for Edon. Allison Kaylor had eight digs, six assists and five kills; Ashley Kaylor tallied nine digs and four kills; and Natalie Wofford had six assists, five digs and five kills.

Liz Rochefort had 14 kills and eight blocks to front the Blackbirds (5-14, 2-3 BBC).

North Central rolls

PIONEER — North Central held Fayette to just 22 total points in posting a 25-8, 25-7, 25-7 Buckeye Border Conference victory on Thursday at North Central High School.

Lauren Balser fired nine kills and five aces for North Central (15-4, 4-1 BBC). Madison Brown added 11 assists and seven kills, while Kendal Bonney slammed 11 kills and had 14 assists, five aces, four digs and two blocks.

Isabelle Burnett collected eight digs for North Central.

Fayette dropped to 0-16 overall, 0-5 BBC.

Fairview takes down Archbold

ARCHBOLD — Fairview’s Haley Hammer dished out 48 assists, while Paige Ricica and Kelly Crites combined for 42 kills as the Apaches overcame a 2-1 deficit to take down Archbold 25-18, 19-25, 25-27, 25-15, 15-12 in a nonconference volleyball match on Thursday at Archbold High School.

Fairview (15-4) posted its 10th straight win. Archbold’s six-game winning streak was snapped in falling to 16-3.

Ricica smacked 22 kills on 53-of-56 spiking, while Crites totaled 20 kills on 53-of-58 spiking, 17 digs and five solo blocks. Emma Wynne collected 27 digs, and Kylie Gates had 10 digs with three aces.

Swanton sweeps Edgerton

EDGERTON — Edgerton’s Taylor Smith dished out 12 assists on 53-of-53 setting as the Bulldogs fell to Swanton 25-21, 25-15, 25-18 in a nonleague match Thursday at Edgerton.

Sadie Walther had eight kills on 27-of-30 spiking for Edgerton (5-13). Noelle Ritter had 18 digs, and Grace Schroeder added four kills and three aces.
