Anytime Fitness, one of the world’s largest gym chains, is coming to Bryan in December or early January.
“We’re surprisingly personable, we’re welcoming, we’re not a bodybuilding gym,” franchisee David Sabo said. “It’s for working adults who want to be healthy.”
The gym, which will be located north of the Goodwill on South Main Street at a yet unlisted address, will feature a variety of equipment for almost any kind of traditional workout.
“We’ll have free weights, a full line of weight machines, cardio equipment, ellipticals, treadmills, step mills and bikes. We’ll also have a road rig for functional training, and a full line of personal training equipment,” Sabo said.
Sabo and his business partner originally met as officers in the Marine Corps and decided to open their own franchise upon leaving the Corps two years ago.
Now, the two have franchises across Ohio in Marysville, Mt. Vernon, Dublin, Westerville, Washington Courthouse and London, Ohio with more on the way in Bryan, Van Wert and Bowling Green through March of next year.
“We wanted to work for ourselves and I actually belonged to Anytime Fitness prior to opening one,” Sabo said. “It’s very personalized and results-oriented. They care about their members. We’re not about the rent and the number, we want to know our members’ stories and what’s going on in their lives.”
The Bryan store is particularly of note for the two.
“This will be the largest facility we have at 9,100 square feet. It’s all brand new equipment and construction. It’s about a $600,000 investment,” Sabo said. “We believe it’s a great investment and a great place to be. We’re really excited about being there.”
At the location’s startup point, tentatively set for December or January, it will employee three to four workers, with plans to expand to seven or eight as members join.
Members will get a consultation with a personal training manager every six weeks and the location will employ a nutritionist. Members of the gym will be able to access any Anytime Fitness location with a membership.
“Our members get access to all 3,000 facilities, about 85 in Ohio,” Sabo said.
Additionally, he said, the facility will boast top-notch security.
“We have very advanced security,” Sabo said. “We run soft background checks and look for violent and sex offenders. We don’t let those people in to make for a safe environment. Security cameras will be located throughout the club (not bathrooms and showers).”
Currently, the location, while not complete, is open to take pre-sale memberships, up to 200. Pre-sale members will receive monthly fee discounts of about $10 and waived enrollments fees.
Zach Stoll of Hicksville will be the gym’s location manager.
Interested individuals may call 419-513-1012 to set up an appointment or enroll over the phone.
Once the gym is open, its hours will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except for Sunday.
