Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. invited the public to its ribbon cutting on Monday. Doing the honors were partners, from left, Isaac Lee, Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce; Jerry Hayes, executive director of Defiance County Economic Development; State Rep. Tony Burkley, (R); Kevin Adams, CGB president; First District State Sen. Cliff Hite; Rob LaFollette, CGB facility manager; Mark St. Clair, CGB regional manager; and Bob Armstrong, Defiance mayor. The grain elevator is located at 11859 Krouse Road, Defiance, and officially opened for business on Tuesday. Consisting of seven team members on a 116-acre facility, this elevator will serve farmers in northwest Ohio. According to LaFollette, the elevator has the capacity to fill 2.4 million bushels of space and can fill three dump pits, all at 20,000 bushels an hour.
