The City of Bryan got a little bigger last week as Williams County Commissioners signed off on annexation of about 11 acres of land to the city.
The first of two separate annexations, approved by commissioners on Monday, concerns 0.509 acres of residential property on Center Street, next to David Betts Double Play Diamond, 1100 Center St. The annexation concerned two parcels of land situated next to each other — one parcel measured 0.303 acres, and the other 0.206 acres. The request for annexation came from the property owner.
An attorney for the petitioner, Ryan Thompson, told commissioners that the property represented an island of county property surrounded by the City of Bryan.
The second annexation, also approved by commissioners on Monday, concerns 10.330 acres of land at the Williams County Regional Airport. The property runs parallel to the airport runway, and the annexation request came from the Airport Authority.
Thompson also represented the Airport Authority on this matter, and told commissioners that annexation of this property would bring the airport completely within the City of Bryan.
Pulaski Township Trustees had earlier signed off on the annexation request, as well, and Bryan City Council passed resolutions pertaining to the annexation.
