A campus building at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, in Hicksville, caught fire on Wednesday, Jan. 15, around 6:30 p.m., prompting the investigation by both Hicksville police and the Ohio State Fire Marshall.
Both Hicksville and Sherwood fire departments responded. According to police, the fire was under control within 30 minutes. Two juveniles were treated for possible smoke inhalation at the scene and then were released. One other individual was present at the time, but was not treated.
Hicksville EMS and Defiance County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
A damage estimate was not provided by authorities.
According to a social media post by the church, the fire is believed to have started in the bathroom.
