Indiana Conservation Officers on Saturday recovered the body of a wake surfer who went missing in Clear Lake, in Steuben County, Indiana, on Thursday.

Utilizing a remote operated vehicle sonar unit, officers were able to search the lake and locate the victim. An Indiana Conservation Officer diver was then able to recover the body Saturday from a depth of 56 feet.

The victim has been identified as John I. Adams, 20, of Lake Forest, Illinois. Family notification has been made and an exact cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Adams had been reported missing at 6:42 p.m. Thursday after a caller told Steuben County 911 the victim fell into the water and did not resurface.

Conservation officers were assisted by fire departments from Angola, Fremont and Hamilton, as well as the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Police Department and others.
