Bryan City Schools recently announced its intention to hire Bryan resident Kevin Schafer as its new CFO/treasurer.

The pending hire comes after Rob Rosswurm announced in April that he will retire from the post after 14 years.

“We are grateful to Mr. Rob Rosswurm for his service and dedication to our district. We look forward to having Kevin on our team,” said Diana Savage, Bryan City Schools superintendent, in a prepared statement.

A recommendation for approval of Schafer’s hire will officially be brought before the Bryan City Schools Board of Education on June 17, at its monthly meeting.

According to a news release from the district, Schafer has served as CFO for Isaac Property Company for the last 12 years. Schafer also served as accounting human resources manager at the Church of the Nazarene Foundation in Olathe, Kansas, from 2003-07.

“I am excited to join Mrs. Savage, the school board, faculty and staff at Bryan City Schools,” Schafer said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to being part of continuing Bryan’s tradition of excellence in education through sound fiscal stewardship.”

Schafer holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s in accounting from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Schafer’s wife, Kandy, is a graduate of Bryan High School (Class of 1999). They have three sons who attend Bryan City Schools.

Pending board approval, Schafer will officially begin his duties on July 8.
