One person reportedly overdosed while driving south on South Main Street in Bryan Sunday evening and crashed near Burger King, one of multiple incidents that kept police busy this past weekend.

Bryan police also responded to a string of petty thefts Saturday morning, domestic disputes throughout the weekend and a report of kidnapping.

The accident on South Main Street was reported at 6:40 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported. Police also responded to a second alleged overdose early Monday morning, in the 400 block of East Butler Street.

Police Chief Chris Chapa said both incidents remain under investigation and declined to release any details.

Saturday’s thefts (from the Eagle’s Lodge donation bin at 221 S. Walnut St., the Sanctuary of Williams of County at 210 S. Main St. and McDonald’s at 1207 S. Main St.) appear to be unrelated.

Police said the alleged kidnapping-in-progress, reported from Bryan Community Apartments, 936 E. Wilson St. at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, turned out to be a dispute regarding custody of a child.

“There was a lot going on and we were busy in the city,” Chapa said. “Everything happened boom, boom, boom but it will all be investigated and we’re working our way through it.”
