Fire causes significant damage to Bryan home

Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a house fire just after noon on Thursday at 318 S. Cherry St., in Bryan. Bryan Fire Department was first on the scene, later joined by Edgerton and Montpelier fire departments, as well as Bryan police. All 12 occupants of the dwelling were either away or had exited the house before first responders arrived. After approximately 20 minutes of firefighting, the fiercest flames of the blaze had been quelled. The fire, which caused significant structural damage to the house, was found to have been caused by a small child playing with a lighter, according to Bryan Fire Department officials. No one was hurt. JOSH EWERS/Staff
