Fire destroys storage building

Fire destroyed a storage barn at 107 S. Maple St., Kunkle, around 4 p.m. Thursday. The structure was total loss, but no injuries were reported, Kunkle Assistant Fire Chief John Baker said. The fire was largely quelled in about 10 minutes, according to Fire Chief John Huffman. Due to windy conditions, the fire also ignited a nearby downed tree and melted siding on a nearby residence. The Montpelier, Pioneer, West Unity and Alvordton fire departments also responded through automatic mutual aid.
