Local firefighters were dispatched for a structure fire at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday, half a mile west of 5107 Kramer Road, south of Edgerton.

The 911 call came in as a structure fire. “It was but it wasn’t,” Edgerton Fire Chief Scott Blue said. “It looked like one from two miles away.

“It was a tractor in a structure but they had it pulled outside before we got there,” he said. “The fire did a little damage inside but it never took hold. Nothing significant.”

The tractor itself was completely destroyed, however.

“They had used it in the morning and parked it,” he said. “We don’t really know what happened. It could have been electrical in the battery or the ignition but there wasn’t much left to look at.”

He said it was late model and estimated the loss at $3,000 to $4,000. No injuries were reported and automatic mutual aid was canceled en route.
