Fire in Edgerton causes no injuries

Edgerton Fire Department responded to a fire at 247 E. Lynn St., Monday afternoon. There were no reported injuries, with a man and 3-year-old child both making it out of the house unscathed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by Edgerton Fire Department and the state fire marshal, though the blaze was said to have started with a mattress on the second floor and is not believed to be suspicious. It was quelled in under 10 minutes, as firefighters went directly into the upstairs window with a hose. The fire reportedly caused substantial smoke and water damage to the second floor and water damage to the first floor. Bryan and Butler, Indiana, fire departments, Edgerton police and Williams County EMS also responded. JOSH EWERS/Staff
