The former executive director of the Montpelier Area Chamber of Commerce is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.
Susan J. Gearhart, 60, of Montpelier, was recently indicted by a Williams County grand jury on a fifth-degree felony charge of theft. Authorities allege that Gearhart stole $6,054.96 from the chamber between December 2014 and May 2019.
She was hired as executive director of the chamber in December 2014.
The chamber office was closed on Tuesday so current officials were not available to comment on the case.
Online court records show Gearhart’s initial court appear is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 28.
