While Bryan received some rains on Friday morning, the summer sun dried everything by the afternoon, leaving people to flock to the Jubilee.

Late afternoon on the square offered everything people have come to expect and enjoy from the annual downtown festival: the alluring smell of fried food hanging in the air, plenty of games allowing you a chance to win a prize like a stuffed animal or a balloon sword and plenty of rides to offer thrills or scare the pants off of you and leaving you crying for the ride to stop.

And the fun isn’t over, yet.

The midway will be open today from noon to 11 p.m., if the weather cooperates. Projections as of early Friday afternoon called for 87-degree temperatures with scattered thunderstorms.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m., traveling about a mile from the corner of West High and Portland streets east to Toy Street. The theme this year is “Bryan Alive.”
