Bryan police arrested a man after an armed standoff outside the Don North Municipal Building on East High Street Tuesday afternoon. Police Chief Chris Chapa reported that at 1:23 p.m. the subject staged himself outside the south entrance, at 1399 E. High St., and sat down with a handgun. “He was unhappy with his current circumstances,” the chief said. “He made mention of shooting himself or getting shot by police. Officers spoke to him. He was eventually Tased and taken into custody.” The subject, later identified David Ruetz, was taken to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan for medical evaluation, then the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio. The incident remains under investigation. Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers also responded to the scene while the city street and fire departments cordoned off streets around the municipal building. Here, the suspect is loaded into an EMS vehicle after being apprehended.
