Moon Walk event recognized

Bryan Mayor Carrie Schlade, center, receives an Apollo 11 plaque, a replica of the one left behind on the moon by the first men on the moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. Joining the mayor for the presentation are city council President Lynn Wieland, left, and Bryan Moon Walk organizers, from left, David Brown, Dave Schumm, Courtney Perkins and Dave Schairbaum. The Moon Walk event includes a host of activities that will take place in the entertainment district around the courthouse in Bryan. Activities begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday and continue through midnight in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of man’s landing on the moon — July 20, 1969. A complete schedule of events is published on Page A6 of this edition of The Bryan Times. DON KORALEWSKI/Staff
