Terry Rummel is the president of Williams County Commission, with Lew Hilkert as vice president, after the commissioners’ annual reorganization for 2022. Following the normal rotation, Rummel moved up from vice president and replaces Brian Davis.

Davis has announced he will not seek re-election this year for a term that begins in January 2023.

Also as part of the reorganization, commissioners set meeting rules, dates and holidays and took care of other routine items, including setting salaries for members of the Veterans Services Commission for 2022. Due to a recently approved salary increase, new member Josh King, who began his term Jan. 1, receives the new salary of $4,460.07, while other members will remain at $3,774.58 until they start a new term.

Commissioners will continue to meet on Mondays and Thursdays.

In other business, commissioners:

• Entered into a contract agreement between Williams County Job & Family Services and Huntington Billboards for billboard advertisement to promote fraud awareness, at a cost not to exceed $2,795, for a term from Jan. 31 through Oct. 9.

• Approved an amendment to a lease agreement between Williams County and SAA bright.net, for the purpose of including maintenance of fiber connections at Hillside Country Living as well as locations of service changes and to assign the agreement to Defiance Holdings, LLC. There is no cost as this is a trade of service with no funds expended.

“It simply takes what we have had in place for many years with bright.net and Metalink and adding the additional work with the fiber and equalizing out the trade of service agreement ... we just had that updated,” Davis explained.
