Sentencing has been scheduled in the case of an Edgerton man accused of multiple crimes involving child pornography.

According to online court records, Jarrod M. Powell, 40, will be sentenced by Williams County Common Pleas Court Judge JT Stelzer at 9 a.m. Aug. 2.

Powell was indicted in October 2020 on 10 counts of second-degree felony pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and six counts of second-degree felony pandering obscenity involving a minor.

After receiving a tip from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Williams County Sheriff’s officers, with help from Edgerton police, executed a warrant on Oct. 16. Sheriff Tom Kochert previously said authorities concluded that Powell had “uploaded hundreds of child pornographic images to the internet.”

Online court records were unclear whether Powell pleaded guilty to some or all of the charges against him. Authorities were not immediately available for comment.

In Ohio, each second-degree felony is punishable by two to eight years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines.
