Authorities said a Paulding County man is dead and his brother is behind bars following a shooting early Saturday morning near Oakwood.
The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release on Saturday stating deputies were dispatched at 2:48 a.m. to a residence at 7598 Road 187 for a report of a drive-by shooting.
Early in the investigation, it was determined a drive-by did not occur, but Anthony J. Richcreek, 28, had sustained injuries resulting from being shot in the chest.
Richcreek was transported to the Pauling County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office alleges he was shot by his brother, Donald J. Richcreek, 26, who also lives at the Road 187 address. Donald was charged with murder, an unclassified felony, and transported to the Paulding County Jail.
A video arraignment with Paulding County Court was scheduled for this (Monday) morning on the charge. The investigation is ongoing, but the sheriff’s office reported no further information would be immediately released.
