Trausch receives annual Luce Award

The annual Jerry Luce Award was presented to Mike Trausch during the Edon-Hilltop high school boys basketball game, Friday in Edon. Each year, the award is given to someone who demonstrates “outstanding loyalty and service to the Edon area community.” It is presented in memory of Jerry Luce, former chief of the Florence Township fire department, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1993. Award organizers said Trausch is “an asset to the community with his volunteer leadership with the summer ball team, assisting with the acquisition of a scoreboard for the high school baseball field, and always willing to lend a hand.” The award was presented to Trausch, pictured second from right, by Edon-Northwest Local Schools Superintendent Anthony Stevens, far right, and members of the Jerry Luce family including, from left, his son Allyn Luce, his widow Jo Ann Luce, and his daughter Jennifer Maier.
