Former North Central track coach Jared Stewart pleaded not guilty to all charges against him in the Williams County Court of Common Pleas this fall and his trial will begin next month.
Stewart, 37, of Pioneer, faces three counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony, after he was indicted by a Williams County grand jury in August. That indictment followed a completed investigation by the Pioneer Police Department into the matter.
The indictment alleges that between Feb. 1 and May 31, 2018, Stewart engaged in sexual conduct with a female subject who was not his spouse and at the time of the offense he was a teacher, administrator, coach or other person in authority employed by or serving in the school where the female subject was enrolled.
Stewart served as the North Central track coach through the 2018 season and subsequently resigned in light of the investigation.
In October, Stewart’s bond was modified so that he might attend his children’s sporting events, with Common Pleas Court Judge J.T. Stelzer approving the motion.
Stewart is slated for a three-day jury trial beginning Feb. 24.
