“My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.” — Psalm 130:6

I want to encourage us to become more than watchmen. With the development of ancient cities, watchmen were stationed on the walls standing guard. They were focused on enemies from the outside — sounding a warning if an enemy approached. The weak and untrained would hide. At the same time, the city’s soldiers would come running to address and destroy the threat. Thus, if we are to be more than watchmen, we must first be watchmen: warning all of those inside our walls about the dangers coming towards them. We must equip and train our churches to evade and address the evil and destruction the world tries to bring into our lives and our hearts.
