Black Swamp Art Guild

The Black Swamp Art Guild recently learned about the guild’s history. Pictured, from left, in the front row are: Brenda Hofbauer, Judy Houk, Pat Chirra, Shirley Goldsmith, Lana Johns and Nina Lois Carrico. In the back row, from left, are: Tom Foster, Larry Beck, Susan Dhaenens, Bobbi Schlosser, Dave Schumm, Marilyn Royal, Ann Vollmar and Marie Moore.

Several members of the Black Swamp Art Guild enjoyed a program on the history of the guild at its August meeting.

Judy Houk and Pat Chirra shared how they met and began the guild 20 years ago. The first meeting was held in the Montpelier Library in September of 2002. By the end of the year 27 members were on the roster, the guild name was chosen, committees formed and Shirley Goldsmith was the winner of the LOGO contest.
