Preceptor Sigma on Jan. 9 began the new year 2020 in the home of Marcy Rosendaul with nine members and one guest present.

Marcy Rosendaul had the program for the evening and decided to involve all the members by asking them, “What traditions have you grown up with in your family that you still continued today?” or “what traditions have you started with your families?”

Members told of special recipes for foods that have been handed down for many generations such as sticky rolls or cookies to decorate.

Traditions also mentioned were going to church on Christmas Eve with the whole family. A newer tradition that some have adopted is dressing in matching pajamas or other clothing. Many other traditions were mentioned bringing back many happy family and holiday memories.

President Paula Kline told the chapter that the International Gift Department of Beta Sigma Phi is offering a 10 percent discount on gifts ordered from Jan. 1, to Feb. 29.

On Jan. 22, members will meet at Kora’s Brew House at 6 p.m. for the January social. Inform Reenie Purk if planning to attend.

The next meeting has been changed from Sue Secoy’s to Peg Sander’s home. It will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.
