Florence M. Augustine, 98, of Archbold, passed away, Oct. 9, 2019, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold. She was born July 29, 1921, near Archbold, the daughter of Alfred and Aleta (Fox) Spiess. She married Virgil Augustine in 1940 and he preceded her in 1998. She lived in the Pettisville area many years and worked at the Wauseon Wire Factory during WWII and at the Pettisville Local Schools in the cafeteria for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold.

She is survived by two children, Rosemary Alexander Thiel of Blakeslee and David (Mary) Augustine of Archbold; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, George Cary; her husband, Virgil; two sons-in-law, Orville “Lanny” Alexander and Kent A. Thiel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Denver (Marjorie and Janice) Spiess and Arthur (Ruthalee) Spiess.

Friends may call at the Fairlawn Chapel from 12-2 p.m. on Monday with services to follow at 2 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be given to Sauder Village.
