John Jay Kreischer Jr. (1959 — 2019)

John Jay Kreischer Jr., 60, of Montpelier, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 7, 1959, in Montpelier to John Jay and Frances Lucille (Smith) Kreischer Sr. John graduated from Montpelier in 1977. He married Linda Lou Hazlet and she preceded him in death.

John was a member of the Montpelier Eagles. He was currently employed by Chase Brass and Copper in Holiday City, for nearly 40 years in the casting department. John was a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Boston Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his children, John “Jay” Kreischer III of Bryan, Rhonda J. Bailey of Montpelier and Ryan Bagley; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Carroll (Patricia) Kreischer of Montpelier, Darlene Haynes of Montpelier and Patti (Mickey) Oyer of Montpelier; special friend Paula Anderson; and special dog, Esther Starr.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; and several other family members.

Visitation for John will be from 1-7 p.m. on Monday, July 1 at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Benaiah Harris to officiate. John will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.
