(1960 — 2019)
Referred to by her family as “an avid sports grandma,” Kim Owens, 59, of Cooney, passed away on Aug. 13. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 1, 1960, Kim married Floyd Owens on June 14, 1980. They had three sons, Benjamin, Nathaniel (Jenny) and Geoffrey (Brandy), and four grandchildren, Anna, Bub, Chlo and Junior. One of the special moments in Kim’s life was witnessing the birth of her granddaughter, Chlo.
Kim was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and participate in other activities. Her hobbies included reading, gardening (particularly mowing her well-manicured yard and working in her flower beds), cooking, baking, collecting donkey figurines, feeding the birds and watching musicals. Her son Ben declared of his mother, “That woman and Hobby Lobby...”, indicating Kim also enjoyed crafts and interior decorating.
Kim’s family described her as the mainstay of the home who was a determined, giving and beautiful soul who left this world all too soon.
Services for Kim Owens will be private, with a celebration of life event scheduled for later. The family has asked that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
