Marvin Lee “Marv” Reed, 85, of Hicksville, Ohio, formerly of Ney, Ohio, passed away on Dec. 29, 2022, at Van Crest in Hicksville, Ohio.
Marv was born on Nov. 3, 1937, to Hugh and Hilda (Sanders) Reed in Wayne, Michigan. He worked as a delivery man for Bunny Bread/Brown’s Bakery. On Oct. 24, 1959 he married Sharon Moog.
Marv was a member of Sherwood United Brethren and Ney Church of God. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961-1962. Marv was also a member of Ney American Legion Post No. 680. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his shop.
Marv is survived by his children, Dawn Benton of Archbold, Ohio, Matt (Kimberly Steffes) Reed of Edgerton, Ohio, Holli (Ryan) Zeedyk of Hicksville, Ohio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Zachary (Lacey) Bowers of Evans, Georgia, Adam (Ashley Fowler) Bowers of Archbold, Ohio, Lyndsay (Codi Main) Bowers of Sherwood, Ohio, Bowen Reed of Edgerton and Logan Reed of Edgerton, Ohio, Jessica Griggs, of Waterloo, Indiana, Emma, Adalyn and Lilly Zeedyk, of Hicksville, Ohio, 14 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Thelma Buchan of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Annabell Clinker, and two brothers, Donald Reed, and Victor Reed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, rom 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home, in Defiance, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with, Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
Burial will take place in Riverview Memory Gardens.
