William “Bill” G. Chamberlain, 83, of Pioneer passed away Sunday, May 14, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on Nov. 14, 1939, in Bryan to William F. and Iola (Moog) Chamberlain. Bill graduated from Stryker High School in 1958. He served his country in the United States Reserves. On June 16, 1963, he married Rosa Bashor at Silver Creek of the Brethren, and she preceded him in death in 2021.
Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bryan and the Pioneer American Legion. In 2004 he retired as a truck driver for the Bryan Landfill, after 15 years. Prior to that he worked for Christy’s Saw Mill in Archbold for 10 years, then his dads saw mill in Pioneer, Chamberlains Saw Mill.
He is survived by his children Mark (Lisa) Chamberlain of Pioneer, Kent (Jody) Chamberlain of Bryan, David Chamberlain of Alvordton and Laurie (Scott) Twigg of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren; and sister, Jean (Don) Louys of Bryan.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosa; brothers, Norman, Don and Larry Chamberlain; and sister, Carol June Chamberlain.
Visitation for Bill will be on Thursday, May 18, from 5-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bryan. Services will be on Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor John MacFarlane to officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church in Bryan.
