It was still pitch black, the night light from the bathroom barely penetrating the dark.

I was warm and comfortable beneath the blankets, still a bit drowsy, but I had slept long enough and was ready to face the day. As I pulled back the covers the chill jolted me wide awake. The cold wood floor was uncomfortable to my bare feet, and as I quickly slid into my fleece lined slippers the red numbers of my alarm clocked revealed it was 6:25 a.m.
