In this turbulent time when some want more transparency in the vote counting process, while others want less transparency, it is good to consider a quote from Joseph Stalin, Communist Russian leader in the 1940s. So dedicated that he executed 20 million Russians who dared question his judgement:

"It is enough that the people know there is an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."
