The Bryan Times,
I hope the governor of North Carolina holds tough and refuses to hold the Republican Convention there this summer. I hope he does not cave in to pressure from President Trump.
We are in the midst of a dangerous pandemic and over 100,000 Americans have died in just a few months. Many states are planning on voting through mail-in ballots (which I think is a great idea), yet there is still thought of holding these conventions, with huge crowds during this time of social distancing.
Both political parties have chosen their candidates (or will after all primaries are complete) and our country does not need to spend a huge amount of money this way.
This is a very different time in our country's history, and we need to show some common sense. We don't need to hold either political parties' convention this summer. The risks greatly outweigh the benefits.
