Lewis Hamilton has been linked with a $40 million switch to one of Mercedes’ main rivals on the grid. The seven-time world champion is 38-years-old and his next contract could prove to be his last in Formula 1. Although Mercedes ran Red Bull close at the end of the 2022 season, this year the gulf between the teams’ performance has been evident. According to Mail Sport, Ferrari are preparing the eye-watering offer to try and bring the Englishman to Maranello next season. The report claims Hamilton and Ferrari president John Elkann have been in close contact in the past few weeks. However, it’s believed that the driver is very much open to remaining with the Silver Arrows, where he won six of his world titles. Ferrari are reportedly considering a straight swap for either Charles LeClerc or Carlos Sainz in their pursuit of Hamilton.
