Not much worked for Bryan’s summer baseball team on Monday, as the visiting Antwerp Archers ran away with a lopsided 15-1 victory at Sumpter Field in Bryan.
A sacrifice fly from Antwerp’s Luke Krouse scored Jacob Savina during the top of the first inning to give the Archers an early 1-0 advantage.
Bryan responded during the bottom of the first when Nolan Kidston scored on a Keith Huard groundout, but Antwerp rolled from there.
After a scoreless second inning from both sides, the Archers scored two runs in the third inning, six in the fourth and six more in the fifth to pull away to a five-inning 15-1 mercy victory.
Bryan managed five hits on the evening. Nolan Kidston was 1-for-2 with a run, Breven Deckrosh was 2-for-2, Mikey Wolff was 1-for-2 and Jase Kepler was 1-for-2.
Quinn Brown started on the mound for Bryan and took the loss. He hurled 3 2/3 innings, surrendered eight runs, eight hits and walked five batters.
Bryan is now 2-5 on the summer season and continues play against Ottawa-Glandorf at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sumpter Field in Bryan.
