While he didn’t get a chance to play out his senior year with many of his Blue Streak teammates this spring, Archbold’s Kade Kern has been named the Gatorade Ohio Baseball Player of the Year, according to a release on Thursday.

Kern was a key member on an Archbold team as a junior in 2019, as he helped the Blue Streaks to a 26-4 overall record, a Northwest Ohio Athletic League title and a spot in a Division III regional final, where the Streaks lost 5-4 against Coldwater in extra innings.

According to an article in the Toledo Blade, Kern hit .431 with three home runs, eight doubles, two triples, 32 RBIs, 38 runs and 10 stolen bases during the 2019 season.

Kern will continue his baseball career at The Ohio State University.
