Bryan’s summer baseball team fell to 1-4 on the season after dropping a pair of games in a doubleheader against Defiance at Sumpter Field in Bryan on Tuesday.
During the first game, Bryan spotted an 8-1 lead to Defiance, and while the Bears did manage to rally late, the Bulldogs still hung on for the 9-7 victory.
During the second game, Bryan grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first inning when a Breven Deckrosh double scored Quinn Brown, and Deckrosh later came into score on a passed ball.
However, Defiance responded with four runs during the top of the second to go up 4-2. Bryan countered with a run during the bottom of the second when a Taysen Deckrosh double scored Nolan Kidston to make it a 4-3 game, but it was as close as the Bears would get for the remainder of the evening.
Defiance proceeded to outscore Bryan 10-1 throughout the next five innings to pull away to a 14-4 victory and complete the sweep. Mikey Wolff scoring on an Ethan Psurny groundout represented Bryan’s only other run of the game.
Bryan will look to turn the tides with a 7:15 p.m. home game against Napoleon on Friday.
