Bryan’s girls tennis team swept the Wauseon Indians 5-0 on the road to improve to 14-2 on the season and earn its 12th shutout of the year.
Bryan’s Katie Farrell beat Wauseon’s Alisa Shelt 6-1, 6-0 at first singles. Bryan’s Olivia De Leon beat Wauseon’s Julie Waldron 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and Bryan junior Taylor Peters beat Wauseon’s Sam Aeschliman 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.
Bryan’s first doubles duo of Sloane Brown and Kate Grothaus beat Sierra Rupp and Paige Smith 6-3, 6-2, while Bryan’s second doubles team of Emilee Bassett and Kaitlyn Posey beat Alizia Kudlica and Tatum Barnes 6-0, 6-2.
“Wauseon has improved quite a bit from when we saw them earlier in the season,” Bryan coach Mitchell Owens said. “We definitely had to play well across the board if we were going to get the win.”
Bryan continues play at Lima Bath on Saturday at 10 a.m.
“With two full weeks left in the season, we need to really start ramping up our focus and intensity,” Owens said. “Some of our varsity players haven’t played in 10 days, and I feel we’ve lost a step in our game. I think if we can get some momentum going over the next week, we can get back to playing up to our potential.”
