For the second time this week, the North Central boys golf team found itself champion at an early-season tournament.

On Thursday, the Eagles were first out of 10 teams at their home Eagle Invitational at Suburban Golf Course.

North Central finished with an overall team score of 330. Fayette was second with 346, Edgerton was third with 360, Maumee Valley Country Day was fourth with 363 and Evergreen rounded out the top five with 400.

In addition to North Central’s team championship, NC senior Chace Boothman earned medalist honors with a round of 76. Rounding out the all-tournament team were Stryker’s Spencer Clingaman (78) in second, Fayette’s Noah Brinegar (79) in third, North Central’s Colin Patten (81) in fourth, Fayette’s Tanner Lemley (85) in fifth and North Central’s Zack Hayes (85) in sixth.

Also scoring on North Central’s ‘A’ team were Jack Bailey (88) and Mason Sanford (91).

Edgerton’s third-place finish was spurred on by Noah Landel (85), Rocco Green (88), Zach Ivan (92), Esten Kennerk (95) and Preston Bartlett (141).

North Central also had a ‘B’ team in action on Thursday and the team placed eighth with a score of 426. Levi Williams shot a 98, Landon Patten had 102, Jack Zenz shot 110 and Sam Wheeler shot 116.

Hilltop was 10th with a score of 427. Avrie Reed shot 105, followed by Ethan Siebenaler (106), Kaleb Gillespie (107), Elijah Kuszmaul (109) and Dominik Schmitt (110).

Stryker’s Devon Weirauch fired a round of 98, while Max Wonders shot 102.

Edon’s Hayden Price shot 93 and Thomas Wehrenberg shot 158.

Montpelier girls place fourth at Lady Locos Invite

The Montpelier girls golf team placed fourth at the Lady Locos Invitational at Suburban Golf Course on Friday. The Locomotives finished with an overall team score of 435 and trailed champion Wauseon (373), second-place Otsego (387) and first-place Wayne Trace (423).

Montpelier was led by a round of 88 from Sarah Higbie. She was followed by teammates Addi Thompson (93), Halie Rose (123) and Emily Fritsch (131).

Edgerton was also in action at the invite and finished with an overall team score of 472. Ashlynn Sleesman led the way with a round of 109. She was followed by teammates Brianna Walkup (114), Greta Brown (118), Breana Reliford (131) and Charlotte Blalock (138).
